Nejdet Karataş is an Electrical Engineer with 35 years of experience in power generation, natural gas transmission, and LNG facilities. Over the course of his career, he has worked in construction, commissioning, startup, and long-term operations of large-scale energy projects. He currently serves as Deputy General Manager – Operations & Projects at KS Energy Nigeria.
He has been involved in coal-fired, combined-cycle (CCGT), and hydro power plants, participating in commissioning, startup, and commercial O&M operations. He has also contributed to technical feasibility studies for new power plant investments.
Between power generation assignments, he spent two years in the natural gas transmission sector as O&M Manager for the Western Anatolia Region of TANAP, the Turkish section of the pipeline transporting Caspian natural gas to Europe.
In late 2021, he joined KS Energy Nigeria as O&M Manager for the power plants supplying electricity to a large cement production facility in Sokoto. During this period, he was involved in the installation, commissioning, and operation of two power plants, with a focus on operational reliability, efficiency, and safety.
He later returned to the natural gas field, contributing to electrical construction and commissioning for an LNG plant project in Nigeria.
Nejdet graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1990 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Throughout his career, he has completed various professional training and certifications in coal-fired and combined-cycle power plants, as well as in natural gas pipeline transportation. In addition to his electrical background, he has practical operational experience in plant processes and performance management.
He is experienced in LNG plant construction, natural gas pipelines, gas and steam turbines, Coal-fired steam boilers, Heat recovery steam generators, electrical generators and power, transformers, and HV / MV and LV switchgear.
